AI Risk Assessment
A human-AI content curator checks and improves what AI writes: fixing errors, checking facts and adding human judgment before it is published. Versions of this job already exist. The Reuters Institute reported in January 2026 that Newsquest, a UK regional news publisher, has more than 30 "AI-assisted reporters" who use an AI tool to draft up to 30 stories a day each, which they then check and add to.
The same report points both ways for this job. Publishers said they plan to do more fact-checking and verification as AI spreads, and two-thirds (67%) said AI had not yet cut any jobs in their newsrooms. But it also describes the web filling up with low-quality AI content, and big platforms getting rid of human moderators and fact-checkers.
The closest established job, editor, is among the most exposed to AI in two AI-company studies of chatbot use at work: 16th of 785 jobs in Microsoft's data and 90th of 756 in Anthropic's. Both companies sell AI. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects editor jobs to shrink about 1% from 2025 to 2035.
We keep this at 3 (Moderate). The job exists because AI output needs checking, so demand grows with AI use. But each curator can check more as tools get better, and the checking itself is increasingly done by AI, so we do not expect this to be a large or secure job for beginners. What would change the score: publishers cutting their AI-checking staff as models get more reliable would push it to 4. Clear growth in paid roles for checking AI output would bring it to 2.
