Campus Beauty
Beautiful

Greek life doesn't just influence Wake Forest's social scene — it controls it, with over 50% of students affiliated and the campus newspaper running editorials about how hard it is to have a social life outside the system. The academics are genuinely rigorous, and the culture is Southern, preppy, and tight-knit. If you don't get into your preferred sorority or fraternity, the social adjustment is real.

A meticulously maintained Georgian-style campus with uniform red brick and white-columned buildings set among magnolias and dogwoods. Wait Chapel anchors the scenic main quad, and the cohesive colonial aesthetic gives the campus a timeless, dignified beauty.

Insider Tips
Walk through Reynolda Gardens and Reynolda Village adjacent to campus — the 129-acre estate includes formal gardens, woodlands, and the Reynolda House Museum of American Art with works by Georgia O'Keeffe, Frederic Church, and Gilbert Stuart.
Visit the Old Salem Historic District (15 min from campus) and sample fresh-baked Moravian cookies from Winkler Bakery, which has been operating since 1807 — the paper-thin ginger cookies are a Winston-Salem signature.
Catch a Friday night Gallery Hop in the Trade Street Arts District — local galleries, studios, and restaurants open their doors with live music, food, and art walks that showcase Winston-Salem's growing creative scene.
The Quad and Wait Chapel are the iconic heart of campus — if you visit during golden hour, the late-afternoon light on the Georgian brick buildings is spectacular for photos.
Ask students about the 'Rolling the Quad' tradition — when Wake Forest wins a big game, students roll the trees on the Quad with toilet paper. The resulting white-draped oaks are a beloved sight.
Best Time to Visit

September through November for gorgeous fall foliage on the brick-and-ivy campus, or March through April when dogwoods and azaleas bloom across North Carolina. Football Saturdays (September-November) add school spirit. Avoid late December through mid-January (winter break) and June-August. Visit twice if serious — once when school is in session.
