Campus Beauty
Beautiful

BC officially bans Greek life, but the social scene hardly suffers — it's replaced by an intense club culture (where getting into the best organizations requires applications and interviews), Jesuit service programs, and a 'work hard, play hard' ethos. School spirit runs deep, especially around Eagles football and hockey, and over 85% of students do community service, giving the campus a genuine sense of shared purpose.

Collegiate Gothic masterpiece set on a hilltop in Chestnut Hill, with Gasson Hall's tower as its iconic centerpiece. The cohesive grey stone architecture, sweeping reservoir views, and immaculate landscaping make it one of the most beautiful campuses in the Northeast.

Insider Tips
Step inside Bapst Library — a stunning Gothic Revival reading room with medieval stained-glass windows that's consistently ranked among the most beautiful college libraries in America. It's a working study space, not a museum, so be quiet.
Walk the 1.5-mile loop around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir directly below campus — BC students run, walk, and study on benches here, and the views back up at Gasson Hall's tower are the best on-campus photo opportunity.
Visit St. Mary's Chapel in St. Mary's Hall for its carved oak ceiling, marble altar, and intricate stained-glass windows — a true 'Gothic gem' that many visitors skip because it's not on the standard tour route.
Grab ice cream at J.P. Licks in Newton Centre (a 5-minute drive from campus) — it's a beloved BC tradition, and Johnny's Luncheonette next door is the classic greasy-spoon diner where students go for Saturday brunch.
If visiting during football season, tailgating on the Mods (senior modular housing area) is a quintessential BC experience — the Jesuit school's game-day atmosphere rivals much larger programs.
Best Time to Visit

September through early November for gorgeous fall foliage and football tailgate energy, or April when spring blooms cover the Gothic campus. The campus is at its most beautiful and lively during these periods. Avoid late December through January (winter break) and June-August when the campus is quiet.
