Campus Beauty
Beautiful

Greek life is the dominant social force at SMU — 48% of women rush sororities, and the system shapes everything from your weekend plans to your friend group. Many social events happen at off-campus venues and rented Dallas bars, creating a uniquely distributed party circuit. The culture is polished, preppy, and unapologetically social.

Immaculately maintained Georgian-Colonial campus in the heart of Dallas's Park Cities, with uniform red-brick buildings, manicured landscaping, and a boulevard-style layout that feels both grand and cohesive.

Based on Niche reviews, Princeton Review surveys, student forums, and institutional data.

Safety

Tour Resources
Insider Tips
Visit the Meadows Museum on campus — it holds one of the largest collections of Spanish art outside Spain, with free admission on Thursdays after 5pm; it's an underappreciated world-class museum
Walk down to Snider Plaza, SMU's de facto town square since 1927, and grab a bite at Bubba's Cooks Country for Southern comfort food or Kuby's for German sausage — these are iconic neighborhood institutions
Try Shug's Bagels on campus, opened by an SMU alum — the signature 'Shug' (bacon, egg, cheese, hash browns on a roll) is a student cult favorite
Stroll the Boulevard from Dallas Hall to the Dallas skyline view — the tree-lined promenade with the iconic red-brick hall behind you is the classic SMU photo
Best Time to Visit

October through November when Dallas weather cools down and football season energizes campus, or March through April for spring. Avoid June-August when Dallas heat is extreme (100°F+) and campus is quieter. Homecoming weekend gives the fullest experience.
