Campus Beauty
Beautiful

Virginia Tech has one of the strongest school spirit cultures in the country — Enter Sandman at Lane Stadium is a top-five college football atmosphere, and the Corps of Cadets adds a unique military tradition that coexists with a vibrant social scene. The Blacksburg location is remote enough that students invest deeply in campus life rather than dispersing, and the 'Hokie' identity becomes a genuine lifelong bond. Greek life is active and socially relevant but doesn't overshadow the broader football-and-school-spirit culture.

A century of Collegiate Gothic buildings unified by hand-laid Hokie Stone -- native dolomite limestone in muted pinks, grays, and browns -- gives the Drillfield-centered campus exceptional visual coherence. The Appalachian mountain setting and university policy requiring Hokie Stone on all new central-campus buildings ensure the beauty continues to grow.

Safety

Campus SafetySafe

Virginia Tech Police patrol 24/7 with 118 blue-light emergency phones and license plate cameras. Since the 2007 tragedy, the university has invested heavily in emergency preparedness and threat assessment.

Neighborhood SafetyVery Safe

Blacksburg is the 5th safest city in Virginia, with a total crime rate 73% below the national average. The small-town, rural setting provides an exceptionally safe off-campus environment.

Based on Clery Act data, student surveys, and local crime statistics.
