Campus Beauty
Attractive

Delaware has earned its Princeton Review party school reputation honestly — the social scene is active and accessible, with Main Street bars and Greek houses fueling a reliable weekend. About 20% go Greek, but the party culture extends well beyond the system. Academics are manageable for most majors, though honors and engineering programs are notably tougher.

The Green, a central tree-lined mall flanked by Georgian brick buildings, anchors a pleasant traditional campus in charming Newark. Attractive overall with nice landscaping, though newer sections are more utilitarian.

Snap a photo with the Blue Hen statue and stroll The Green, UD's iconic central quad -- it's the campus living room where students study, play frisbee, and gather for events.
Visit the Old College Gallery and the Mineralogical Museum in Penny Hall -- both are overlooked campus gems with free admission that showcase art, science, and geological specimens.
Walk Main Street Newark for independent boutiques, Deer Park Tavern (a historic pub since 1851 where Edgar Allan Poe visited the predecessor tavern on this site in 1843), and tax-free shopping -- Delaware has no sales tax.
Hike or bike White Clay Creek State Park, a stone's throw from campus with miles of trails and no entrance fee for pedestrians and cyclists.
Best Time to Visit

September through November when campus is buzzing and football season energizes the Blue Hen community. Spring (April-May) is lovely with blooming gardens on The Green. Newark Community Day in September is a fun bonus. Avoid winter break and hot August days before fall move-in.
