Campus Beauty
Beautiful

Pratt's gated Brooklyn campus is a genuine oasis — a sculpture park, old trees, and a tight-knit artistic community that feels worlds away from the city outside. Unlike Parsons, you actually have a campus to come home to, and the queer and creative communities are particularly strong, though some students find the social scene cliquish outside those circles.

A surprisingly lush 25-acre sculpture garden campus in Brooklyn with Romanesque Revival buildings, mature tree canopy, and outdoor art installations throughout. A hidden gem that feels like a green oasis in the middle of the city.

Based on Niche reviews, Princeton Review surveys, student forums, and institutional data.

Insider Tips
The Pratt Sculpture Park has 70+ outdoor works by artists like Richard Serra and Mark di Suvero — it's one of NYC's largest sculpture parks and completely free. Bring a sketchbook.
The gated campus is a genuine oasis in Brooklyn — old-growth trees, Victorian-era buildings, and a working steam plant chimney create an atmosphere that feels worlds away from the city outside the gates.
Walk to nearby DeKalb Market Hall (5 minutes from campus) for a food court with 40+ vendors, or grab a slice at Speedy Romeo on Classon Avenue for inventive wood-fired pizza.
Visit the Pratt Manhattan Gallery (free admission, 144 W 14th Street) if you want to see additional student and faculty exhibitions beyond what's on the Brooklyn campus.
Explore Clinton Hill and Fort Greene neighborhoods surrounding campus — Pratt students frequent the Brooklyn Flea (on weekends) and the indie bookshops and cafes along Myrtle Avenue.
Best Time to Visit

Mid-October through November or March through April when students are actively working in studios and outdoor sculptures look best. The annual Pratt Show in May showcases graduating student work. Avoid mid-December through January (winter break) and mid-May through August.
