Campus Beauty
Beautiful

Pepperdine is a dry campus affiliated with the Churches of Christ — no alcohol in dorms, opposite-sex visitors banned from rooms overnight, and parties get shut down fast. About 25% go Greek, but without chapter houses, it's service projects and university-sanctioned events rather than keg stands. The Malibu setting is stunning but isolating; you're 30+ minutes from LA's nightlife, which makes the campus feel like a beautiful bubble with a quiet social pulse.

Dramatically perched on a Malibu hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Mediterranean-style campus with its terracotta roofs, fountains, and panoramic coastal views is one of the most breathtaking college settings in the country.

Based on Niche reviews, Princeton Review surveys, student forums, and institutional data.

Safety

Tour Resources
Insider Tips
Hike to the Cross above campus — the 3-mile out-and-back trail starts across from the School of Law and rewards you with unparalleled panoramic Pacific Ocean views; allow about 2 hours
Visit the Heroes Garden next to the business school for some of the highest ocean views in Malibu — the infinity-edge reflecting pond with miles of ocean behind it is jaw-dropping
Stay for sunset on the great lawn — Pepperdine's front lawn overlooking the Pacific has legitimately some of the most spectacular sunsets in Southern California, and this is the campus that inspired the 'Zoey 101' dorms
Drive 15 minutes to the Getty Villa for one of California's most Instagrammable spots — beautifully groomed Roman gardens with 44,000+ Greek and Roman antiquities, and it's free with a reservation
Best Time to Visit

October through November or February through April for the best Malibu weather and active campus. Avoid August-September (no guided tours offered) and summer break. Weekdays give the most authentic feel; mornings have clearer ocean views before marine layer rolls in.
