Cost to Qualify
No credential gates any of these nine careers — the real barrier is an audience, an audition, a portfolio, or luck, and BLS confirms no formal education is required to enter acting or music performance. These are also nine of the lowest entry-level salaries in our whole dataset ($20K-$40K), so 'free to start' does not mean 'easy to make a living' — the missing cost shows up later, as unpaid years spent building a body of work instead of a tuition bill up front.

AI Risk Assessment
Professional line standers hold places in line for people who do not want to wait, most often for congressional hearings and Supreme Court arguments in Washington, D.C. The whole job is being physically present, and AI cannot do that. Washington Express, a D.C. courier firm that offers the service, charges $60 an hour with a three-hour minimum and says it has done this for more than 20 years. Its staff watch committee websites for room changes and hold printed signs so clients can find them.
The risks to this job come from rules, not AI. In 2015 the Supreme Court stopped lawyers from using line standers for its separate lawyers' line, the ABA Journal reported, after some line standers had camped out for days; the public can still hire them. The ABA Journal describes the work as part-time pay, and there is no government job category for it. Any event that swaps a physical line for online booking or a lottery no longer needs someone to stand in it.
We keep this at 1: AI cannot stand in a line. What would change the score: Congress or the courts moving hearing seats to online reservations or lotteries. That would shrink this job, but through rule changes, not AI.
