Cost to Qualify
No credential gates any of these nine careers — the real barrier is an audience, an audition, a portfolio, or luck, and BLS confirms no formal education is required to enter acting or music performance. These are also nine of the lowest entry-level salaries in our whole dataset ($20K-$40K), so 'free to start' does not mean 'easy to make a living' — the missing cost shows up later, as unpaid years spent building a body of work instead of a tuition bill up front.

AI Risk Assessment
A professional bridesmaid is hired to stand in a wedding party and look after the bride: calming nerves, fixing problems on the day, and handling what friends and family cannot. Jen Glantz started Bridesmaid for Hire, which calls itself the first such business, in 2014. She told CNBC in 2017 that she took it on because "no one was there when the bride was having an emotional breakdown." At the time she worked with 20 to 35 clients a year at $2,000 or more each. It is a tiny niche, with no government job category.
The part of the business that happens on the day, wearing the dress, walking down the aisle and giving a toast, is physical and personal, and AI cannot do it. The desk work around it is a different story. In 2017, speech-writing help was one of Glantz's add-on services. Today her company's website offers "100+ AI wedding tools" for writing speeches and vows and planning the wedding. The business that invented this job is turning its writing and planning help into AI tools that customers use on their own.
We keep this at 1. AI cannot be a bridesmaid, and the core of the job is being there in person. The risk is to the side income from speeches and planning advice, which AI tools now cover. What would change the score: couples replacing paid human support with AI planning tools, so demand for the in-person service falls.
